Open Faced Toasted Apple Snack

It’s #WorldAppleDay!  And there’s just something about apples & cinnamon that make me want to sink my teeth into “comfort”.  This super tasty snack is healthy, satisfying and definitely a kid favorite!  It will leave your kitchen smelling heavenly, too.  Enjoy!Screen Shot 2015-10-21 at 4.10.49 PM

Open Faced Toasted Apple Snack

Serves 2

2 slices Ezekiel bread
1 small apple, peeled and thinly sliced
2 tablespoons nut butter
Cinnamon to taste
1 tablespoon low-fat natural yogurt
2 teaspoons honey

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Spread nut butter on bread, and arrange a thin layer of apple slices. Sprinkle with cinnamon and drizzle with honey. Bake until lightly toasted. Remove from oven, and drizzle with yogurt. For a nut-free version, use apple butter instead of nut butter.

We’re mixing it up a little bit this week with a different format. Confusing your muscle groups is key to success! Don’t let a new style or format discourage you.  Instead, use it as an opportunity to challenge yourself.  We become so programmed and creatures of habit, it’s good to get out of your shell and color outside the lines a little bit.

Workout Wednesday: 10/14/2015

Do you LOVE your workouts? If the answer is no, then it’s time to find out why. Just like the seasons change, so does our activity & what we enjoy doing!  It’s OK with whatever you’re feeling.  Really, it’s OK! Resisting it will not help you move forward.  Acknowledging it will.  So, take a deep breath and ask yourself the question again.  Do you love your workouts?  Be honest. Whatever your answer is, embrace it.  And accept where you are at this very point in time.  Don’t focus on the past or the future, focus on the NOW.  Move your body in a way that feels good to YOU.  And nobody else. There are endless options when it comes to fitness. Find one that you enjoy, that challenges you, and pushes you.  Because your health and well being deserve your full attention. Sometimes, asking the hard questions and having easy solutions is necessary.  In case you don’t know where to start, here’s a full-body functional  Inspired Fitness workout to get you moving.
