If It Feels Good, Do It!

Do you feel good?

How do you truly live the kind of life you want, the kind of life you deserve? Well, simply stated, start doing more of the things that feel good and less of what feels bad.

Too easy, right? No! You are responsible for your own destiny. It’s unfortunate that we convince ourselves that there are good reasons to do ourselves harm. We say things like “I had a long day; I deserve dessert,” or “I need the paycheck” or “It will feel good right now even if it feels bad later.”

We over-think life and show disdain for the simplicity of things that reliably nourish us. If only we could focus on the foundation: build loving relationships, eat food that nourishes our bodies, create space in our lives for rest and self-care, create a life that radiates inspiration – big or small.

 

Feel Good Do GoodLet’s start at the beginning. How can you do less of what feels bad and more of what feels good? Try this: pause before you take any action and recall how that action made you feel in the past – not just in the moment, but in the long term. For example, I know that if I eat one of my mom’s delicious homemade cookies, the wheat and sugar will leave me feeling yucky and droopy. Recalling that feeling is enough to make me opt for the apple.

With this one simple act, you will quickly discover that you are more available for the things that leave you feeling good. And that good will lead you…to the life you deserve.
